Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the PawLens iOS app ("PawLens", "we", "us"). By downloading or using PawLens, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

1. License to use the app

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use PawLens on Apple devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell, or attempt to extract our source code or database, except as permitted by law.

2. Subscriptions (PawLens+)

PawLens offers an optional auto-renewing subscription, PawLens+:

• $6.99 per month, or
• $39.99 per year, which includes a 3-day free trial (the free trial is offered on the yearly plan only).

Subscription details:

• Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
• If you start the free trial and don't cancel, it converts to a paid yearly subscription at the end of the trial. We send an in-app reminder before it converts, but the responsibility to cancel is yours.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription any time in your App Store settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions). Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
• Prices are in your local App Store currency and may vary by region.

Because PawLens is distributed through the App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA) applies to your use of the app. You can read it here: Apple's Licensed Application EULA. Where these Terms conflict with Apple's EULA regarding the app itself, Apple's EULA governs.

3. Accuracy of label data and the shared database

Some product data in PawLens is extracted from photos of packaging that users submit, using automated tools. This means:

• Extracted data may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information. Manufacturers change formulations without notice.
• Scores and Match verdicts are only as accurate as the underlying label data.
• Product data is contributed to a shared database used by all PawLens users. If you submit label photos, you confirm they are of product packaging and that you have the right to submit them.
• If you spot something wrong, you can report it in the app so we can re-check it. We don't guarantee that any specific error will be corrected within any particular timeframe.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use PawLens for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
• Upload photos of anything other than pet-food packaging, or upload content that is illegal, infringing, or that contains other people's personal information;
• Interfere with, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' data;
• Scrape, harvest, or bulk-extract our product database.

5. Intellectual property

PawLens, including its name, logo, design, scoring methodology, and software, is owned by us and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms don't grant you any rights in our trademarks or content except the limited license described above.

6. Disclaimer of warranties

PawLens is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that scores or data will be accurate or complete. Nothing in these Terms excludes any consumer guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable law.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your reliance on scores, Match verdicts, label data, or any decisions you make about your pet's diet or health. To the extent our liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to resupplying the service or refunding the amount you paid us for the subscription in the 12 months before the claim. For decisions affecting your pet's health, consult a veterinarian.

8. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that state. This does not deprive you of any protection under the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use PawLens after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
